Windows Update - Redstone4 Version 1803 - Laptop

I had posted my that my experience with the manual update on my desktop went smoothly and without issues. However, my laptop was hung up for 2+ hours at 100%. I was awaiting reboot and completion, but it never happened. I felt I should just manually turn off and back on, but I was a bit reluctant. So, I contacted MS support and chatted with them. The service rep asked a few pertinent questions, did some research and within a short period of time suggested turning off and back on. I guess my intuition was correct. After reboot, I got the welcome to the New April 2018 update screen and all was well with the world.

Contacting MS is very easy with Cortana. Just type Microsoft Support, answer a few questions and either have MS call back or institute a Chat. I almost always Chat. The entire contact and resolution took about 10 minutes. I seldom understand why MS support gets bad raps. I've used it successfully, numerous times.

Good luck with your update.

They are good with easy questions and easy answers like reboot your machine. Try asking them something complicated and you will know why they get a bad rap. On complicated issues you have to hit the forums and figure it out for yourself.

Glad it worked out for you. I have updated three machines so far without any issues.

As for Murkysoft's support, I haven't used it in years, but the online help stuff has not been very useful. Forums and other online support sources seem far more efficacious.

My experience has been different. When they occur, I fix most issues on my PC. Very occasionally, I need tech support.
Thanks,
Mark
