This is my first time posting anything. I have been following UHH for a couple years. For the most part, I really enjoy the info and advice I see on this site. I am recently retired, even though I have been unable to work due to health issues for the past couple years. Photography has always been a passion of mine, but kind of took a back seat to riding my Harley, fishing and golf to name a few. I never seemed to have the money or time to dedicate to photography. Now it is one of the few things I am able to do. The side effects of chemo really affected my balance and coordination so I have really gotten a lot more serious about this hobby for the past two years. I currently have a Nikon D7200 ( I shot Nikon in my film days and just stuck with the brand) and a D300. I have a Nikon 80-400, a Sigma 17-70 and a Sigma 18-250 for lenses. I try to stay out of the little brand wars. They are all great cameras, I just happen to prefer Nikon. I hope to be able to get a good used D810 within the next year.( Please spare me the lectures on GAS and " Do I really need that camera"?) It is hard to pass up the deals that are out there right now on an incredible camera. I primarily enjoy shooting landscape and wildlife. Living in Idaho puts me in an ideal location for both. I am fortunate to have a brother in Alaska ( going back up in July) and a sister on the Oregon coast (was just there in Feb). I look forward to sharing photos and opinions with everyone.

GAS? I guess I am not up on current camera lingo. Bokeh is another one that was not around years ago, at least in my circles!

GAS is gear acquisition syndrome. When you just gotta have the newest of everything available. A few people on this site like to scream GAS every time someone mentions getting new or upgraded equipment. You see it referred to all the time on this site. Bokeh is the pleasing out of focus blur in the background of a lot of photos. If I am not mistaken it is a Japanese word that means out of focus that was coined by a Japanese photographer.
