I am thinking about upgrading to a full frame camera and like the price point that the Nikon D750 is at. I have thought about the new Sony, A7III however with the current pricing on the Nikon is tough to pass up. I will most likely buy with the 24-120 offered and at some point use the cash saved to buy another lense most likely a long range zoom.

I have done a fair amount of research and would like to know if some of you have had real time experience with this camera and what you think? I know they have had a few issues with the 24-120 lense and some initial firmware problems.

Any thoughts would be appreciated?

I purchased a D750 about five months ago. To put that event into context it has been over 40 years since I last took my photography seriously. Back in the days when I was working as a freelance photo journalist out in Australia using a Pentax; model number long forgotten!

To say that I am blown away by the quality, and sophistication, of the Nikon is an understatement! I am also aware that I need to devote much more time to getting to know the camera. Including getting into the routine of taking the camera with me every time we leave the house. As in the best pictures are always the ones you see when you haven’t got your camera with you!

So I am far from being an expert in terms of answering your question but know that I will never lust after another camera! Not in my lifetime! (What’s left of it! I’m 73!)

I know there have been firmware issues with the 750 but I love mine. Tough to beat at the price. Very good in low light.

Thanks. I appreciate your insight. I am currently using a Canon 70D and will keep, but want to go to the full frame.

I wasn't aware of firmware issues on the D750. Could you provide some links?

I am not sure where I read it. I think the problems were around when the camera was released in 2014 and have been corrected on the newer cameras.

Sorry I cannot help you there. Once I determined my camera was not affected I disregarded.

I'm not aware of any firmware issues with the D750 but there were two recalls (service advisories) in 2006 for shutter problems. Those have been corrected on all models since then.

The 24-120mm is a great walk around lens, and last time I checked you save $500 off the individual prices when you buy them together.

Happy D750 owner here, I also recommend this camera.
As far as a firmware issue, there is none I have heard about but there was an issue with the shutter causing flares in photos. It affected units produced in '14 and '15 and it's safe to say if you buy a new one now, you shouldn't have an issue. I checked the serial number at Nikon's site before I bought mine just to be sure.

I would highly recommend the D750 as a very solid FF camera. I can not speak to the 24-120mm. I would recommend the Nikon 24mm f/1.8 and 85 f/1.8 lenses. For a do everything lens, I have used a Tamron 28-300, but would consider the Nikon version--I did not use Nikon for size reasons. The Nikon 50mm I find a bit soft--but ok. The Tamron 45mm with VR is better, and a bargain price right now--but a little bit large. It does everything I want--I see not need to upgrade.

Sorry, my error. It was shutter, not firmware.

The Nikon D750 was not introduced until 2014 so it is impossible for it to have been recalled in 2006. Please don't confuse the OP with erroneous information.

Oops, my bad.

You're right 2016, not 2006. But the point is that it's still a past problem and no longer pertinent.

I have the Nikon D750 and like it very much. Keep in mind it does have the anti-aliasing filter and so does the Sony A7III (I think). Like an idiot I paid the full price of $2,300 back in March of 2015 for the D750 (body only). Now you can get a new one for a fraction of that price. Looking back I would now opt for the D810 over the D750. The D810 does not have the AA filter. Instead of the Nikon kit 24-120 kit lens I chose the Tamron 24-70 G2 instead. That stays on the D750 most of the time.

I am delighted with.y D750 which I've had since it came out. Use the 14-24, 24-70 and 70-200 and love the quality of my photos. Don't hesitate, go for it!
