If this has been covered before I apologize for posting it. I just saw the article this morning and found it very interesting. I did a SEARCH and could find no links to this specific article on the forum. The title of the article says it all.

A little surprising to see the ten year old D700 in the mix. Good article, I haven't seen it before.

I've been a Nikon guy all my life, but I don't think this means Nikon is superior to other brands. Those photographers would probably have won the awards no matter what brand of camera they were using.

That said, it's important to note that Photolari's 2017 graphs are based on only 36 out of 45 awarded photos. So while it's nice to compare 2017 to 2018 and draw grand conclusions about the camera market, this is probably more an exercise in bragging rights than an accurate representation of camera company health.

That end statement says it all.

Why do the working photographers seem to prefer Nikons?

Number of prize winning does not reflect number of manufacturer use.

Perhaps the title should be slightly reworded ..... "Nikon camera breakdown". :-). I think it's interesting that many, many posts remind us it's not about the equipment but about the people behind the camera.... and then we try to celebrate with flimsy statistics that awarded photos were dominated by Nikon.

Does anyone have that data? How many working photographers are there and what percentage shoot Nikon versus others, Canon and other and what percentage then win prices, etc. I always laugh at golf advertisements which try to convince the consumer that using a certain ball or driver will improve your game. I never see an adv suggesting buying a specific baseball or baseball glove will makebypu play like a pro. I assume that camera manufacturers pay for advertising the same way.
