Just a couple of Red-shouldered Hawks

These are two different birds. The first three are of a bird photographed in 2014. The second group is a bird I photographed this past Fall. Both were taken in the same location. Red-shouldered hawks are almost as common as Red-tailed hawks in the northern Sacramento Valley.

Beautiful raptors and you captured them well. Short story...We were visiting Solvang with family a few years back and there were two of them chasing each other around in pine trees. Their screeching was almost deafening and nonstop...they can be noisy buggers!

Thanks Al, the light gets much of the credit for the detail in shots of the first bird, they were taken with a "kit" lens, which can certainly be sharp enough in good light. Thanks for the visit.

Thanks jederick. That kind of ruckus is could be about food but it is usually about trying to get lucky!
