Went out specifically to practice on birds in Manual mode with Auto-Continuous focus and hand held. Think I did so much better this time around. Nikon D5300, Tamron 150-600mm lens. Please any critiques welcome....good or bad...it all helps. I edited them in LR as well.

Great shots! I am renting that lens next month, any tips?

Thanks!
I like it, it's not as heavy as what I thought. When hand holding it, I position the tripod handle to help me hold it. I am still in the learning phase of this photography game so I have a lot to learn yet. Wish I would have purchased the G2 model instead of the G1 -- from the research I have found - teleconverter's don't work very well with the G1 model...the auto focus no longer works if you use one.
You are definitely improving, Cindy. Good job.

Thanks...I think so too. It's starting to all come together!
Nice shots Cindy. I had the "G1" version and have upgraded to the G2. However, I learned taking shots with either lens that I had to keep my shutter speed equal to my focal length. (Shutter speed = focal length X cropped sensor). If you are shooting at 600mm and your camera has a 1.5x cropped sensor, you should try to get your shutter speed above 1/900 sec. I shoot with the Canon 7D II, and I am always above 1/1000 and even as high as 1/1600 with birds stationary. This formula works well in bright sunshine. I had a chance to use a borrowed Canon 400mm f2.8 lens. I would rather use the Tamron 150-600 any day for capturing my ducks in flight.
