Am on a trip through the national parks in Utah and a bit more. Here is a shot I took at Mesa Arch in Canyonlands NP the other day.

Nice shot....with 30 of my new best friends.
The second shot is kind of a spoiler but your capture of the sunrise is awesome! Very well done.
A+ When we visited Mesa Arch, the wind was blowing so hard I did not get out my camera.
My friend
Frank Lee Ruggles tells the story of the photo that graces the cover of his book, "
Chasing Light." He says he arrived a good hour before sunrise when no one was there, picked the "perfect spot" and settled in. The sun rose, and he took his shots. Upon wrapping up and putting away his gear, he looked behind him and saw a swell of photographers, all taking the same shot.
(Note: I am not hawking Ruggles' book, but it's a terrific coffee table book of superb photography!)

These are beautiful, Randave! After seeing image #2,
I'm amazed you got such a magnificent shot for #1!
Excellent image. Hope all your "buddies" got the same shot.
Ha ha! Obviously not a "secret" vantage point. Very nice.
Thanks for the thumb Longshadow.

I was there an hour and a half before sunrise to get the shot. One other photog was there before my by about 15 minutes. We had the best seats in the house. Our national parks are not being underutilized for sure.
