How often do you shoot?

I’m not a gun owner and I’m curious about gun ownership. Many owners are said to own multiple weapons. So I would like to know how often do you shoot and in what context. I know there are many h****rs so I wonder how often you hunt. Target shooting, competitions?

I have NO hidden agenda so please let’s not turn this into another Attic “feces fling”; please let’s leave judgments out of this one thread.

I'm lucky to get out once a year to target shoot.

I have a modern semi-auto pistol, a .38 Police special bought in the 40's, and a .22 single shot rifle bought about 1932. I get out maybe twice a year to target shoot. Not a h****r.

I guess it all depends on how many bad guys are just askin' for it.

Once or twice a month, target shooting with a Hammerli 150, also a Hammerli 380 rapid fire. It has been more than 6 months that my carry Kimber .45 was "quiet".

Since my knee surgery, my visit to the range was not like it was before 2 to 3 time a month

I’m hoping to get realistic answers. The Attic pro-gun members seem to all be law abiding citizens who zealously protect their weapons and their rights. I will be very surprised if even one has discharged their weapon in self-defense. While many conceal carry, I think very few have brandished their weapon during a confrontation.

For the record, I do not oppose gun ownership. I don’t understand it personally but I do acknowledge the legal right to their ownership. I do support improved and nationally consistent gun licensing requirements and yes, limiting sales of high capacity magazines and high and rapid firepower weapons.

This thread is a sincere effort to learn basic facts from gun enthusiasts and hope for learning their realistic personal experiences.

I have a gun range in the back of the ranch. I try to get out there at least once a week. Shooting is like golf. The more you practice, the better you get.

A week ago I was riding the fence line and saw three coyotes after a young calf. I quickly got two and one got away. I had to fire 5 rounds.

I guess I need more rapid fire practice from about 250 yards.

I don't hunt for food or sport. I really don't like to k**l animals but I don't like animals k*****g my animals.

My compliments; sounds like fine shooting and very well stated.

Thanks,

If I k**l a hog or a coyote, I d**g the carcass to the fence line. That is a deterrent for other hogs and coyotes until the carcass is gone.

Heading out in an hour to the Owyhees to look for coyotes. The ranchers let us hunt their private and leased land as well as there is a lot of B*M, Forest Service and State land to cruise on. OBTW, I use an AR15.

And I guess you should be glad there are more good guys than bad that are askin for it.

That might work with any vermin! Hmm
