Netflix movie "Kodachrome".

It might be a bomb, it might be good, but with a title like "Kodachrome" I just have to watch it. I shot miles of Kodachrome. Here's the synopsys from Netflix: "Matt, a struggling executive, finds his world turned upside down when his estranged father's nurse shows up unexpectedly in his office. Matt's father, a famed bad-boy photojournalist, is facing terminal cancer and his dying wish is for Matt to join him on a road trip from New York to Kansas to process his last rolls of Kodachrome film before the sole remaining lab closes and those captured moments are gone forever." Added to Netflix today.

I'll play film critic.

It's getting pretty good reviews and it's on my list to see. It's inspired by a news story about the real last Kodachrome lab and the rush of people going there before it closed. Besides Netflix it is showing at some theaters.

I bought a Kodak Stereo camera on an auction a while back. It had a roll of Kodachrome II film in it. I finished off the roll and took it to the local camera store to be processed. They informed me that nobody processes Kodachrome film anymore. Well crap!!

They told me I could buy other slide film but they would have to send it to Los Angeles to be developed and it would take a month to get it back.

I was thinking about getting the materials to process the films myself but decided "screw that, I've been there before". So I donated the camera to the Salvation Army.

I'll have to add the movie to my Netflix queue.

With that storyline, that iconic title, and Ed Harris in the leading role, watching it was, for me, a no-brainer. I found it a very enjoyable and entertaining movie. It was shot on film of course, not digitally, and it and its director are the subject of the current “Kodakery” podcast.

This movie sounds a lot like the Netflix movie we watched last night - the estranged father and his son on a road trip.

Watched "Kodachrome" last night and I liked it. Ed Harris was great, as usual. I love the line "Photographers, we submit moments in time to eternity." Since I'm the self appointed film critic, I gave it 8 out of 10 f stops of approval.
