Greetings, taking a well earned vacation from this cold/wet east coast weather. Any suggestion for landscape photography locations in SW Florida? Ideally, early morning and sunset locations. I am familiar with the beaches. Thanks in advance!
Gear: Sony A77m2 with 16.50 f2.8- No tripod on this trip.

On Marco Island I like Tiger Tail Beach.

I like in Naples the Naples Municipal Beach and Pier for sunset and street photography.
My 2 cents. Have fun.

The Naples Botanical Gardens is very nice, and the Audubon Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary.

Not far from Naples is Everglades City and the 10,000 Islands section of Everglades National Park - a terrific place for sunsets. Just a short hop up I75 East (Alligator Alley) towards Fort Lauderdale.

Drive around in Marco Island and look for vacant lots. Most of the time you can find some burrowing owls. Some of the lots have roped off areas around the holes. They are fun to photograph.

Go out Tamiami trail and look for the smallest post office in the US. on the right. Continue past that half mile ish to joanie's blue crab shack on the left. Bring your camera in. It won't disappoint, even the bathrooms. Especially the bathrooms. Also Kelly's Fish House and the Shell Shack next to it. Awfully colorful tables and shells on display. There's an elementary school on Marco that has an eagle's nest across from it. You have to wait around a bit but they'll show up. The Bubble Room in Sanibel is another interior place you'd want to get photos in and around. Just stopping along the way anywhere will get you all the wildlife opportunities you could want with gators birds swamps etc.

Man, you're in a photographer's paradise down there! Corkscrew sanctuary, Naples botanical gardens, Naples zoo, many beaches, also close to the Everglades and Big Cypress parks.

Ding Darling wildlife drive on Sanibel Island, also the Sanibel lighthouse on south tip of island. Bunche Beach at the S. end of John Morris drive near Sanibel offers long views of Fort Myers beach and East shore of Sanibel. Also nice views from the rest areas on causeway between Sanibel and Fort Myers. As mentioned, the Naples Pier at sunset. I do not know if this qualifies as landscape, but I like the palm tree lined streets in Naples near the beach. Street photography on 5th. ave. South in Naples, Wind in the Willow building. Take a boat tour of Naples Bay to photograph mansions on Gorgon River and Port Royal. Check out Tin City in downtown Naples. Take a day, travel east on US 41 toward Miami, endless views of Big Cypress Swamp. Stop at Ten Thousand Islands park on S. side of US 41, nice views from the tower. Continue on to Kirby Storter area, on to Shark Valley section of Everglades Nat. Park for tram tour to observation tower. (Be careful to observe posted speed limit here) Anyone interested in landscape photography, a stop at Big Cypress Gallery on US 41 (Tamiami Trail) features photography by Clyde Butcher, the Ansil Adams of the Everglades. His gallery is on the S. side of US 41 and easy to miss, but do not miss this. Take cash or your credit card, it is hard to resist buying one of his fabulous prints. Don't forget the smallest post office in the U.S. on U.S. 41. There are a lot of vendors along U.S.41 offering airboat tours. I could go on, how much time do you have? Enjoy S.W.Florida.

You have to go to Sanibel an go to Ding Darling. The spoonbills are in along with the white pelicans all kinds of shore birds. Also as soon as you come over bridge to 4 way stop take right an go about 1/4 mile to Sanibel trailer park on left pull in and you will see where to park on left before guard gate. Open to public walk in about 100 feet on your right there is a pond with every exotic bird you can think of great photo ops you only need a 200 mm very close to you. Also great beaches for morning an evening sunsets an the lighthouse is a great shot.

Jump in your car and run out to Lake Trafford for tons of natural wildlife opportunities. Head South on US 41 from Marco to Everglades City for another treat.

Enjoy your trip!!
