I bought the Nikon D500 a few months ago and took it over to Cape Coral for it's first test shooting the owls. Thought I would share a few of the results. I get this perspective by laying down in the grass. These were captured near the Public Library for those folks visiting or here in Florida. The new born chicks are still deep in the burrows. I did capture one chick still all pin feathered peaking out of the burrow.
I should note the first three shoots were taken in the late afternoon as the sun was getting low. Much better lighting I think than the morning hrs.

I love these owls Martin.
Great set! You and the D500 are a great match.
Martin, this is a delightful series. I love the perspective and the soft lighting!

Excellent downloads Martin, love the compositions and the beautiful light.
Very nice set Martin. One of my favorite birds though I get most of mine at the Salton Sea. I agree, most of my best have been in the afternoon. I was in Florida in Feb. and wanted to go to Cape Coral - it was the day before their festival - but I was in the Titusville area and it was just too far. Maybe on my next trip.

Great shots. My favorite is the the first. Very nice perspective from your low position. Burrowing owls; so cute some people literally love them to death.
