Way-to-Go Bob, nice piece of work here capturing a piece of history. Your processing adds to the dignity this place deserves. Places like this are slowly fading away. They're usually the first to go with developers.

If it weren't for the wires, vehicles and parking meters this picture could have been shot in the late 1800s. Excellent

Thanks, Sirius_one. I appreciate you looking in and commenting. I'm toying with the idea of doing an "old time" photo of this just for fun.

Thanks. I appreciate your taking a look and commenting.

Yup, it could use those, along with a few other things. However, I don't have the budget afforded to Gregory Crewdson and had to pass on those.

Yep,
We all have budgetary constraints...
Well, at least we do...

I read where one of his photographs essentially cost $1M to shoot. Most of his are high dollar productions.

Millions?
Wow!
I am just glad I can afford the camera that I use...

u4ea, the millions are spent on removing things from the scene, literally. The lighting crew, Hollywood style. Police and fire departments to control traffic and fires, on occasion. In some cases, he's built entire sets for one photograph. I like what he does, but few have the financial backing he gets. His camera, though expensive, is a standard 8x10 view camera. Those can cost $5000.00 and above.

So, if I were to do this scene in such a manner, I'd pay the City of Phoenix to remove, patch concrete, and replace, when finished, several parking meters. Pay someone to restrict parking along the street and parking lots within the scene. HIre a lighting crew, with equipment lights, to illuminate the scene just as I want it to be. Then, take the photograph, develop the film, see if it is what I want, and, perhaps, have to shoot it again. Sometimes that can go on for a couple of days. It's similar to shooting one frame of a movie.

Just go on youtube and search for Gregory Crewdson. There are a number of videos featuring how he works.
