Nikon d7100, 18-140 Kit lens, sb400 flash at dusk for fill and some pop to the reflective areas. So, one of Nikon's cheapest and older flashes and not even made anymore. A used one costs more than I paid new - go figure and is still working (gave it to a young, 11 yr old photographer I was training). Tiny and light! A kit lens and a crop sensor camera.

deer2ker - Love that boxer. I was raised starting at a baby with my grandparents boxers until I was in high school. i have a bad pic of a boxer and my golden retriever on a couch and love at first sight that I'll post here, (didn't take the time to attach a flash and bounce) so blue eye in the boxer from in camera flash.

I like it. Very familiar view to me. Spent 30 years as a FF. Well done.

Firemen are fearless as are cops. They put their lives on the line everyday. They are heroes!

Not being snarky here, however we are not fearless. Anyone one of us who says they've never been scared is either a liar or a poser. What you were, if you had the good fortune to work for a top notch professional department, was a well trained team and were required to drill constantly throughout your career to coldly calculate your risk/benefit analysis at every fire. And the old adage in the industry, "It's not your emergency so keep your cool. It's a job," served me well.

Of course firemen are not "fearless" like you put it - no man is. But sxrich meant it in the most sincere of ways. I had an uncle who was a fireman - he hated the accolades as well but in our eyes he was fearless and was a great role model for our kids vs certain athletes and movie stars. As we used to tell him...you are loved and appreciated - this is a good thing ;)

deer2ker - Thanks and you are EXACTLY right. I probably could have chosen better words and I'm sure there is a ton of fear but it's managed mostly. Rich PS Bravery and courageous are other words that come to mind. Anyway, I could not have said it better and thanks very much.

I understand and appreciate it. No offense was intended. Honest men & women in such occupations are not afraid to admit fear. A buddy was an F4 pilot in Vietnam. He told me every single time he landed on the deck he was "terrified." He is an honest man who followed his training to the T. He hasn't flown an hr since leaving the Navy. It's the ones who constantly boast you need to be careful around. In any event I really like the image posted, kinda like old home week for a retired guy.
