Anyone have a chance to play with the new profiles in Lightroom?
Quick glance. It seems like an advanced from of presets. I'm not yet sure what I will do with them as I've not been a user of presets.
I like that the Dehaze slider moved to the Basic panel!

With a combined profiles and (home made) presets, I don't think I will be using On1 or NIK software as much. I think Adobe are trying to get ahead of the competition - maybe they are.

The profiles can be included in a preset.
Yes, they work basically the same as other's presets. For me, I find using presets, with the exception of my own, adds way to much time to processing a raw image. I usually spend less the 3 minutes per image when processing by using the sliders. I mostly use the slider feature within the histogram for most tweaks and edits. Every time I attempt to use someone else's presets, it takes upward of 10 minutes per image. Which is not acceptable with my workflow.
If you like presets, I'm sure these and others will suit you fine.

As Bill Sprague pointed out in another thread, Profiles have significant differences to Presets. A Preset moves the sliders in the Basic Develop module, while a Profile does not. This means that applying a Profile to a high key image will have a similar effect to applying it to a low key image. And, unlike a Preset, the amount of the Profile you apply to an image can be easily changed via a single slider, much like the opacity slider of a layer in Photoshop. I think the potential for Profiles is much greater than that of Presets. In fact they can serve as a type of Look Up Table (LUT) for swapping colors in an image.

Reference to LUTs has been in several of the videos I have seen in the last few days including Adobe's.

Skylum Luminar 2018 added LUTS in their 2018 release. My understanding it comes from video editing to apply the same look across a video. So far I’ve seen no real advantage to my workflow.
