Which lens should I opt for

I have a Canon 760 D. Currently I have the following lens Canon 18-55mm 3.5 5.6, Canon 50mm 1.8, and a Canon 75-300mm 4-5.6. I am looking for a decent everyday lens. I was thinking of the Canon 18-85, or the Canon 18-200. I am new to photography and don’t want to break the bank. Any suggestions would be great.

The 75-300 is trash....70-300 is much better. I like the Sigma 18-250 and it's better than both!

I use a Sigma 18-200 (APS-C) as my walk-around lens.
(But I think they changed models since I purchased mine.)

They Canon 70-300 IS is nice and can be decent macro lense also. Been around for some time so should be not hard to get a decent used one.

Is your Canon 18-55 not "decent" enough? The quality of any lens, professional or not, depends a lot on the person using it. If that person does his part the lens will do its part.
Now, if the focal lengths are kind of short for your usual subjects that is a different story.

Get a constant aperture lens.

It depends on what you shoot and how fussy you are on image quality. For many, the 18-300 or 18-400 lenses are fine. For others such lenses don't have adequate IQ. They would go for the 24-105L. In between are the 18-135, and 18-200, as well as many other fine choices. You also might want to only consider lenses that are compatible with full frame models. Only the 24-105L I mentioned are in this category.

Hi tonyi

My choice on an 80D is the EFs 15-85. Everyday for me is grandkids, landscapes, custom bikes and cars, the occasional urban bird, and stuff on the street including people.

I do pocket an old 220EX flash with diffuser too, which gives me heaps more flexibility with the variable aperture on the EFs 15-85, and often have the EFs 24 f2.8 pancake in another pocket as well.

Its a decent step up from the EFs 18-55 and the EFs 18-200 in IQ, and has a useful range for an every day lens too. It would pair nicely with the EF 75-300 but, after using the EFs 15-85, I think you'll be driven to upgrade that one too, as it might demonstrate much better IQ. Such is photography!

For a bit more range I'll often pair it with either the EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6L IS USM (mainly for the weight) or the EF 70-200 f4L IS.

Hope that helps

Phil

MY advise would be to use what have and as you encounter situations that your kit does not cover that the time to start looking at others. Do not be afraid to rent to discover what would work for you. You may also discover there are lenses you have and do not use. Now you may want to sell those off to purchase the lense you really want. Always purchase the fastest lense you can afford that will be money well spent.
