This time, I drove about 1 mile farther along the road to a point where the salt was closer than the main parking lot. The salt pan is -279 ft below sea level, which is about there the vertical line on the cliff face to the right of the image is located. To get the sweeping vista, the Nikon 16-35 f/4 at 19 mm was ideal. Panorama is 7 frames merged in Lightroom, edited in Photoshop with Topaz Adjust and fiddled with back in Lightroom.
It had rained immediately preceding my arrival, so the salt, which is normally pristine white, had flooded with water and dirt washed down from the surrounding hills.
