Rest assured, I still have, and use most of, my darkroom equipment. I'll be developing some film this evening, as well as a few more evenings this week.

LOL... perfect timing! I just "invested" in an entire darkroom setup for developing and printing 35mm and 120mm B&W, and bought a new to me Nikon F5 to replace my Canon T-90 (trying to consolidate to as much Nikon gear as I can). I wish I had such good timing for the stock market :)
As much as I like the optical darkroom I do not believe I will look back.
A person famous for being famous was paid to advertise and sales go up. That’s a no brainer.
But it’s also nice that she happens to be a photographer and she likes to shoot film.
Although film was never dead, all it takes is a few minutes with a famous talk show host to rekindle people's interest in photography (other than using a smart phone). I don't see anything wrong with that.
