Just looking at the headlines in the news today, it's not a pretty picture.

United Airlines killed a woman's puppy by making her put it in the overhead bin.
We'll probably be spending hundreds of billions of dollars on a military Space Force.
In an era of self-driving cars, people will be drinking even more.
Russia is acting with impunity around the world.
That package you think is from Amazon could be a bomb.
Stephen Hawking has passed away.
I know...it's like a soap opera. I hope the talks with North Korea goes good.
I am 90 and won't be around to see the big bang, good or bad change is coming.
Here's another for ya:

i read the same this morning and it is very depressing news.
You have to take the news with a grain of salt. It seems the flight attendant didn't know about the puppy as it was being smuggled aboard to avoid having to pay extra fees. Russia has been meddling in other countries affairs for years ( just like the USA). Lots of these headlines are simply sensationalized by whatever source first reports them in order to get better sales/ratings/clicks and other sources just run with the story without checking it.

I'm glad you're so accommodating. Life must be a breeze for you.
That puppy was probably already dead when it was brought on board in it's TSA approved carrier, right?

Those who don't accept facts get to live in a world like we have now. Whatever news you don't like, just label it fake. Life can be so easy when you ignore it.

French bulldogs are known for having breathing issues. But, a 3 hour flight and no family member thought to check on the dog?? Not letting the airline off here but there is plenty of blame to go around here.

Indeed.
I sorely miss those days when I had ten newspapers available from ten diverse editorial boards! Now we only have two major sources.

To just accept a story without questioning it isn't to my liking since many times stories are just made up or only tell some of the facts of the story instead of the entire story. . Lots of examples of that. Best to get all the facts instead of jumping to conclusions...

That likely didn't make much of a difference since all newspapers get their info from a few select sources (like Associated Press or Reuters) and editorial boards are opinion-oriented, not fact-oriented. The problem lies in the biases of the sources. We used to have relatively unbiased sources years ago but that has changed...
