Use a bump stock for a higher frame rate perhaps...

I use mine a lot, it is easy to keep stable with long lens and I was planing to put my red dot on it but just haven’t (I say no time to do it but it would be a lie). I’m thinking of putting a pistol grip with a trigger instead of the old trigger. It has a arca Swiss Mount. Not good for wide lens because the end of the stock is in the picture

So if we mounted this on a regular deer hunting rifle and used a wide angle lens so you could also see the barrel, we could market this as the next and most realistic virtual reality gear for shooting games. :)

Heard a story, how many years ago, around late 70's, in some Eastern-European country one police officer, being as part of a larger group, was assigned to monitor and patrol a highway, so that a presidential cortège with some foreign leaders visiting that country could pass through to their destination without a hitch.
As the procession was almost passing him by, for whatever stupid reason and/or out of curiosity, at the very last moment he decided to clock the speed they were driving at. So, he pulled out his radar and pointed at them. That was the very last thing that he did in his life...

I know exactly where you're coming from and what your "rig" looked like, as back then in Europe it had an actual name " a photo-sniper" -- for the reasons you described in your funny story.
Remember when I was still a little boy, I went a few times to a sporting goods store with my father, (where they were also selling photo equipment) and where he was eyeing that 'photo-sniper' -- with a pistol grip, rifle-type stock and a huge lens attached. :)

Gotta tell y'all- nowadays with the current political environment, the the recurrence of one violent shooting after another, I hesitate to turn my television set on or pick up a morning newspaper for fear of reading about another unmitigated tragedy.

I'm glad that we can still conjure up a sense of humor and enjoy a lighthearted funny thread.

Nonetheless, in all seriousness, I would not recommend that anyone actually take a rig, like the one illustrated in this thread, out in a public place, event, or anywhere else. I would suggest any kind of support system that does not even remotely resemble a firearm, let alone an assault weapon. Gotta admit, on a dark night, that thing looks like a rocket launcher and the speed light with the telephoto attachment resembles some kind of laser aiming device.

Those of us who are familiar with photographic equipment and/or firearms could easily recognize the difference but all it takes is one uninitiated person to panic at the sight of such a thing and and a horrible occurrence can ensue.

I too remember a time when that Russian made “sniper camera” was advertised in photo magazines and was sold in many camera shops. Photographers used them and many other brands of gun-stock mounts and nobody took that much notice- that was in a different time in and distant era gone by. It's a sad commentary on our times.

I agree guys. A rig like that could easily get you killed in today's world. I can see the headline now. "PHOTOGRAPHER MISTAKEN FOR TERRORIST BLOWN AWAY." I can remember as a child growing up in the 1940's in South Carolina we didn't lock our doors when we left the house and my father would leave his keys in the ignition of his car overnight. Try that today.
