From a distance the Goldeneye look just like any black and white duck, but up close the iridescent feathers on the head with the yellow contrasting eye is just beautiful. It this had been a sunny day, the colors would have been even more remarkable.

Excellent shots, David. I love those glowing eyes! The last duck is also very interesting.

The last image is a merganser. They are a fish-eating duck. It is also the female. The male looks like this attached image.

All of these ducks were feeding by diving under the water. The water was also a moving river which I feel added much more to the images over a photo of them in a pond or lake. Glad you liked them.
