You want to become a great photographer you will need to work veryy hard at. iif it is to be done at all it should be done to the best of your abilities in any endevor. I assume you have a camera already. It doesnt matter if it is point and shoot or a hassenblad. what makes a great photo is the photographer. the most important tool a photographer has is between your ears. ReAD everything you can get your hands on from intro to photography books to pop photo magazine to various forums like this one ans photographycorner.com second post your shots here and invite critique. no one here is a jerk, they will offer advice sometimes contrary advice because photographers come at things from different directions. shoot, shoot, shoot, post photos, apply what you have learned, shoot shoot post repeat as neccesary. Also remember ultimately the only opinion of your photos that matter is yours. If you get an emotional response from your picture then it is a perfect photo. Dont get discouraged by some of the photos here, there are some awfully good photographers on this site. I have been shooting for 43 years and some young person who has been shooting for 6 months will post something that literaly makes me say wow outloud. Rember you'll never stop learning and improving with photography. Good luck post some pictures and if i can be of any help send me a private message or reply to one of my posts
The Henry Doorly Zoo is a great place to experience a vast number of different environments for pictures. These will require adjustments for lighting, shooting through glass, as well as outdoor adjustments for sun and shadows. I have only been to that zoo once, but it is a great zoo. Enjoy, take lots of pictures, learn from what works and what did not work.
