The Apple looks sharper in the first pic but the Orange does in the second pic... Overall I'd pick the second one as the better pic....but my old eyes can play tricks too...

looks like focus point and exposure are different, as noted apple and orange trade best, lines on looseleaf paper sharper on top also small bottle in back more out of focus.

Focus point is obviously different. With no Exif data or downloads to examine one can only guess at whatever othet differences there were to settings so this entire question is literally pointless.

I agree.. the DOF is less on number two so the background is a bit out of focus (pre-bokeh?). The orange is what I suppose is the focal point, so number 2 is sharper. Did you use single point focus, and if so, where was the focal point? Did you use the same ISO, f/stop, shutter on both pics?

The Canon shot is bad.

Different focal points and i would venture a guess they are different aperatures based on the amount of blur in front and behind the focal points. (Apple in the first and Orange in the 2nd)

Different cameras and lenses with different focal points and exposure values.....hmmmm. not sure what nuggets of insight to glean from this experiment...

...other than the obvious "apples and oranges" metaphor .... for which I took the bait...;-)

What was the point of this post? It literally is like comparing apples to oranges. Just saying.

You will need smaller f stop and have both in focus to really know for sure. Blow up will ultimately show difference if any.

This is a joke, right? If it is, it is quite well done.

The Nikon shot has a shallower depth of field. The lens should be stopped down a little more. Both are in sharp focus on the "stem" end of the orange.

There’s a bad spot on your orange.
