"My best volleyball shots so far." Inspired me to try some basketball shots.

The other day, Skylark influenced me to do some shots of my grandkids basketball games. Due to health reasons, I haven't been able to go to see the 6 of them play any kind of ball. So, here are a few. I put my 85mm f1.8 on my D7100. Set the aperature to wide open, shutter at 1250 and shot most of them with ISO of 1600. I like using my Exposidisc for the white balance control.

Comments are appreciated.

The Expodisk served you well here. The white balance looks great, which is not always easy in these gyms.

Thanks for sharing your sports shots!

Chris

Very good! I was thinking about trying my 85mm at this weeks game instead of a 24-70 on a FF.

Nice shots. If you lower your shutter speed to 1/800 or so your iso will lower as well. This will help on some pics. for quality. Always fill the frame with your subject, that will help too. Good work.

I tried dropping the shutter speed to 1/1000 and picked up a lot of blur in some of the action shots, Jules.

I hear ya. Each gym has different lighting. You have to do what works for you.
I thought that would help with the iso.
Good work.

Those are nice! Glad you got out there and shot some with the 85. I see you have
a 50 1.4, I use that plenty as well and then crop as necessary in Lightroom.
I'll start a new thread and post the basketball pics from my niece's basketball
game. All shot with the 85.
I also added some more pictures and comments from more volleyball
over the weekend, trying the 70-200 f2.8 on my new to me d7200 - which
was awesome.

Sensor, I was sitting in the bleachers about 3 rows up. I only cropped a couple of the shots. Thanks for your feedback.

Thanks. I stay on the ground bench as it gets shaky w/kids running up and down. It is easy to get up and stand for the shot. I wish I could go up farther.
