Hi All. Took a few pictures recently during a rainy day in Paris (more like all week). I shot the attached photo with a FujiFilm X100F and did post processing.
The green umbrella caught my attention. I would like to print it and place it in my office but I'm not completely sure if I should crop it some before a COSTCO print.
Your suggestions (including, don't bother printing) would be very welcomed. Thanks. Val

I would leave it as is and print it like that. That is a great shot.

Remember, the more you crop, the lower the resolution becomes. Enlarging a cropped photo will start to show noise and muddiness. A 24 MP camera allows a lot of leeway in cropping, however, there comes a point when you can't enlarge it any more. Add to that is that most picture viewers do stand further back when viewing a photo and may not see any enlargement issues.

Val, IMHO, the blown out white clouds on the horizon attract the eyes of the viewer. Tone down the strong white areas. This will attract the eye to the figures rather than the sky. Other than that an unusual and appealing image.

Pull down from the top to just above the lamp post to give it a wider effect..

To begin with, DON'T go to costco. If you really want a quality print, make a paper print and on the margins, show the crop you would like to have, and then take it to a professional print shop and show them where you want the crops to be. Costco, best buy, and the drug store around the corner can never crop a picture the way YOU want it. In your case though, I would leave the picture AS IS. It is beautiful just the way you shot it.

I like the picture, the horizon and clouds, the reflections, about everyone is using a cellphone, and one guy is about to commit suicide by jumping into the bushes, well maybe not. I don't think I would crop it, but there are some distracting areas I would fix. On the right side, there is a woman at the bottom of the pole with something bright green that I think needs removing. The umbrella behind the woman with the green umbrella is sticking out on the front side of her face. This could be cloned to just be trees. Finally, along the horizon, there are bright green clones or shadows of buildings and some in the trees on the right. These could probably be toned out (probably not the correct phraseology).

Leave it as it is. It's a nice picture.

Nice, and great detail. Could you show the image as it was before processing? Would like to see the two to compare.

Checking on my Chromebook app, it appears to be a 3:2 aspect, so you will need to print as 8x12, 12x18 - even a 20x30 poster.

If you want 8x10 or 11x14, you will need to crop yourself first (or add white space to match a standard aspect ratio) or, as mentioned above, take somewhere where you can discuss the options. Suggestion: if going large, make a 4x6 first to check color and brightness unless your monitor is calibrated for your printer's specs.

I can see at least three great crops, emphasizing different aspects. Right now, it is a nice scene. If you give permission for people to download and SHOW you what they mean, I think you would benefit.

The person holding the umbrella is closer to the bottom of the frame than would be ideal, but you could counter that by cropping a bit off of the top. You would only be losing a band of featureless cloud. If you wanted to preserve the aspect ratio you could probably lose one or maybe two of the people on the extreme left.

To my eye the colour of the clouds just above the skyline is a bit strange and different from the rest of the sky. And I agree with the comments about the bright green at the foot of the lamp-post. It needs to go. It's competing with the bright green of the main subject.

This was taken as folks were looking at the Eiffel tower from the esplanade on the other side of the Seine (Champ de Mars)... I have a strong 'deja vu' at the location here.

Personally I would try to crop as little possible on the right side. The guy also has a third leg...

Trying to clone this out is a possibility but not a good idea.

Do not clone out the woman with the red plastic. She adds what few images have, a small echo of the main subject. She is almost important (as a detail) as everything else altogether.

Do not change the sky either. When you crop this will be corrected. Use a proportional crop from the bottom left and grow it until the crop reaches the woman's leg. There you have a choice: If you are going to use a mat or a frame, remember that it will cover some of the image so plan for that. If you are going to have it simply mounted as is, do a test print to see what will really print using a smaller size. (I would do that regardless of final output, if only to verify that the print will match you PP output.)

Is it perfect? Probably not, but I may be a tough grader. There are good suggestions here, some I like, others not. Personally, I love the image as is. If I had taken it, I'd have tried to give the guy on the right a little more room from the edge. But your image is a beautiful shot of a dreary, gray day in a beautiful city. I especially like how the two women in furry coats seem to be looking at each other as if to say "Why aren't you in rain gear?" I'd print it and hang it as is.
