Sorry, can’t find any such thing on Amazon. Once again, are you SURE you don’t mean Adorama?

I didn't know either, but their prices!!! I plugged in the specs for a Nikon 200-500mm in perfect condition including original packaging. They offer $400-$600.
The lowest price they offer for sale "fulfilled by Amazon" is $1200!!!

Go on Amazon. Put in Nikon 85mm micro DX VR lens for about $526. When on the lens page, scroll down a little and see TRADE IN NOW on lower right hand side of page above other sellers

Interesting. It must be some sort of configuration in your account. I’m on Amazon nearly every day and have never seen a link to TRADE IN NOW. I just searched for the lens in question and looked at the page on which it is listed. There is no link for that function that I can find. I’m perplexed.

He means Amazon. It will show on a product page.

I logged out of Amazon and did the 200-500. Down on the right it said trade for $598.

Ah ha! I found it. Didn’t know they did that. Thanks.

BTW I have had best success buying and selling camera equipment here on UHH. You will get a much better price here. First check eBay sold listings to price your item.

When I am selling photo gear I always use KEH Camera. They are great to buy used equipment or to sell it. They have always been great to deal with.

First of all let me say, for 10 years or so, I have used Amazon, and loved everything about doing business with them, EXCEPT on this one deal. I went to sell them a totally perfect Nikon 85mm micro DX, VR lens. I sent them a perfect lens with all the accessories and original box and papers. You could not tell from brand new. They sent it back saying it had light scratches and dust. I called them and they said someone must have made a mistake to resend it back to them. I did. Today I get it back saying it had hard usage. I looked at this lens with a microscope and could not find a single scratch anywhere or anything other than a brand new looking lens. I even checked the glass and found nothing. Am wondering if anyone else ever had a similar problem or any comments. They did give me a $50 credit for my troubles. It also cost them the freight four times. They were supposed to pay me first $296 the first time and $306 the second time. I could get that on Ebay! What do you think is going on? Thanks Bob

Look at it this way, you got $50.00 for your trouble. List your lens on ebay and be done with it already. I never knew Amazon bought USED photography equipment, that is something I did not know.

You do realize that Amazon is like a mall. A mall doesn't sell anything. They provide stores space to sell their stuff. So, you aren't dealing with Amazon. You're dealing with a "store" within the Amazon "mall". Since you are not a manufacturer but a previous owner, the lens is used, whether it was actually used or not. Like any store, the seller on Amazon wants to make a profit. They can't sell the lens as new. So, they'll purchase the lens from you at a price that allows them to make a profit while selling it as used.

Amazon does sell merchandise directly and they are not simply a "mall." Like other retailers they purchase new items from a distributor or manufacturer and offer them for sale by Amazon on their website. They also list items, new and used, for sale by private vendors.

Question for the OP: Instead of trying to sell your lens to Amazon why not list it on their website as a private vendor and as a used item and eliminate Amazon as a middleman? I have only rarely sold an item on Amazon (but have purchased hundreds) but when I have it was an entirely satisfactory process.

$50 credit is a good deal, and it cost you nothing in postage. I have no idea what's going on with their inspection, but I always sell on ebay.

While Amazon certainly does many things right, I am not certain that trade-in's are their forte'.
