hi rab-eye..thx. its frustrating because I cannot tell you what I did differently nor could I replicate for sure..I was in the medical profession for 40 yrs and this photography/art venture is quite the polar opposite. but,i am committed to try..retired in April 2017 so now much more time..thx

I retired at Christmas so I too have some time on my hands. We will keep plugging away at it because the only way for both of us is UP.

You are lucky to have those subjects at hand! A couple of suggestions. First, aim for a shutter speed as fast as possible for BIFs, 1/1500th minimum, preferably 1/2000th or faster. This should help getting sharper shots. And second, try some exposure compensation where you have such bright, white subjects - try setting it at minus 1 stop, see how it works and adjust accordingly. Are you shooting in RAW? It gives you more latitude for adjustments in post-processing.

hi straight shooter. thx for the ideas. also had idea from a youtube video to shoot fats shutter as you suggest and a high iso of 800-1000. they discounted the "noise"of a high iso saying that newer cameras can compensate for the noise..thx for the comment,jim
