Nikon 7200 price

Back in December, looking around for a new 7200 body and saw prices all the way from $675-$800. Now they are at $1000 a big jump. Now I'm not in any way a marketing guy but why did they do that? Who would buy a 7200 now. I seems like to me if I was in marketing I would make a really big deal about holding the pre xmas prices at least for awhile. I would have bought one. Go figure??

The $800 price was Nikon's "temporary" Xmas sale price, Those less $$ were gray market or rebuilds. Nikon lowered the price to move cameras, probably to get ready to bring out a new model after all the 7200 is 4 or 5 years old now.
Go ahead and buy, it's a durable camera that will last a long time to come.

Well yea I figured the 800 was a sale price but and the others were grey market but it's just hard to get 1000 price out of my head. Anyway, I was just gonna splurge a little on a 7200 just basically because of larger buffer and built in wifi so I'll just move along with my 7100 for now get a full frame in the not so distant future anyway.

The Nikon D7200 was released in 2015. It is almost 3 years old. The D7500, released last year, supposedly was the successor to the D7200, but really was not. It is not inferior to the D7200, except for the dual SD card slots. B&H was selling new, not refurbished, D7200 for $800 during the Christmas holiday period. $800 is a price mostly associated with refurbished. Now, that the holiday sales are over, the prices are now back to what they were before. Keep in mind, that Nikon controls the pricing on all their brand new cameras. Holidays and non Holidays. And most camera stores comply to Nikon's pricing policy, unless it is a gray market scam deal. Like 42nd Street Photo does occasionally. Stay away from them.

I suppose that they stopped making the D7200 when they introduced the D7500. After the X'mas sales the stock has gone low enough so now they need to raise the price so that they can sell the D7500. What I think that they won't drop the price of the D7200 any more as they don't have many of them in stock. They keep the price at $1000 so that people would buy the D7500 at $1200.

Reducing inventory to lower corporate inventory tax rates.

The sale price generates lots of sales, and putting the price back up generates more profit. If someone really wants a D7200, he'll pay the price. I'd look at refurbished. $700.

I had done a lot of research on the Nikon d7200 and the D500. In the end I decided on the D7200. I wanted to upgrade from my D300 and D70, both of which are good cameras and still are working well, just old. For the photography I do, mostly travel, amature, I decided that the D7200 was better for me. I also like cameras to have a built in flash, which the D500 does not have. Also the MPs were just too high for me. I have several Nikon external flashes so that is not the issue. Once I decide on the model the model the next consideration was cost. The cost I found on the internet at such stores like Adorama and B&H was around $1,000. A friend of mine had been considering one also and decided on a refurbished D7200. I had never considered anything refurbished as I considered it far inferior to a new model, especially due to the differences in the length of the warrantees. I then decided to call Adorama to get more information on refurbished models. I have purchased other cameras, lenses and accessories from then in the past and have always been pleased.

Much to my surprise I was told that their refurbished models are refurbished by Nikon, at their factory and are put through a complete check of all parts and electronics. They said that Nikon only does that to a sampling of their new models, but every refurbished model gets that thorough check. They said that if Nikon finds any thing wrong, they fix it by either replacing the part or adjusting any setting that may be necessary so that when they finished their refurbishing process, the camera had to meet all of their specifications for their new cameras of that model. That impressed me! My friend bought his refurbished D7200 and so did I and neither has been disappointed. We both paid about $729 about four months apart by just waiting for a sale. I still occasionally see that price for the refurbished D7200, but only occasionally. As such, I will always consider refurbished models in the future. I just received a new Tamron 18-400 lens for Christmas and am waiting for the weather to improve to try it out with the D7200. I wanted more of an all in one lens for travel so I could eliminate multiple lenses, and the extra weight and hassle of changing lenses back and forth from wide to long, while still having a wide choice of settings from wide angle to long telephoto. I expect that I will be pleased with the results. All of these choices fit my needs well. There is no such thing as the best camera or the best lens. It is whatever camera and lens fits the user and his or her needs best!

Agree here. My refurbished D7200 had 15 clicks on the shutter. Just as good as new and not a single issue with performance.

I would try KEH Camera or Autorama . You can get excellent cameras and lenses for a fraction and with a warranty. I have bought all my lenses there and am totally satisfied.

I have different brands, majority in Nikon. Had tried from D70 to D800 and 750 now. Someone recommended to rent and try any body and lens for several weeks to see does it fit you, then buy later. I have both D7000 and 7100. Hate the 7100 for its small buffer, I always had the problem of picture slow display, no matter what size of image I set, image shown a few seconds - 5 to 10s - after shot (if anyone knows how to fix this, please instruct me, thanks). I am trying Canon crop (T2i) and full frame (5DII, 6D, 5DIII), so far I like them, however it is too soon to tell which brand is better, for me. Enjoy and good shooting.

Maybe the D7500 attributes are not as important as the extra memory card and giving up 4mp to many of us, keeping the value up on the older D7200.

If you buy a refurbished camera from Cameta Camera, they give a one year warranty on their refurbished items.
