Around here, we have towns obviously named after the first names of people. I'll have to Google their origins. Do any of you have similarly named towns near you?

Eddyville, Margaretville, Sampsonville, Elizaville, Otisville, Annsville, Glenville

Peetz, Joe's, Craig, Douglas, Alma, Peyton, Hayden, Elizabeth, Franktown, Jamestown, Alice, Ansel, Anton, Beulah, Grover, Rex and at least 200 more. Looked at the Atlas and we have an amazing amount of Colo. towns with the first name of people. Not many -villes though.

I come from northeastern PA, near Scranton (family name) as well as the city of Wilkes Barre (named for 2 men), Swoyersville (for Harry E), Pittston, Dickson (family name?) City, Duryea (one of the original car manufacturers), Dupont (family name), Edwardsville, could go on and on.
We also lived in Cleveland OH (a family name)

I'm in Reminderville, founded by the Reminder family. Many Reminders still reside here.

If I remember right there is an 'eddy' at Eddyville, don't know about the others, BTW I think Fishers Eddy is near Eddyville, just from driving Rt 17 when son was in college.

Hanwell (not far from where I grew up) is named after Hannah's Well, which I did find the remains of some time ago. In fact, many parts of the N.E. U.S. mirror a lot of place names around where I grew up.
