Lightroom fully powers off my computer when I'm in LR. This started @ one year ago so at the time I upped the power supply to 750 (whatever that means). This worked for the past year , now my computer is getting shut down by LR again. Only happens in LR and even with small transactions like editing or deleting photos. I'm ordering a more powerful power supply hoping this will help. I'm hoping one of our LR "gurus" will know if this is a LR problem or will have a suggestion on a solution.
My computer specs are as follows:
Lightroom 5.7.1
Windows 7
Ram 24GB
System 5TB on 3 drives.
USB attached Seagate 6TG external Hard drive Hub.
ADM iCore processor.

Thanks for your help.

It's not your power supply. Sounds like possibly corrupt software. Try uninstalling and reinstalling Lightroom.

I'm of the opinion that replacing the power supply with a larger one will not solve your problem. A 750 watt supply is a pretty healthy supply and I can't imagine needing anything larger. I'm running a computer that is as powerful as yours and I'm doing it with a 500 watt supply. I would be looking at software issues rather than replacing the power supply. Also, make sure that your heatsink is clean. A clogged heatsink can cause overheating issues which will cause the computer to shut down although I can't imagine that under these circumstances it would happen only while using Lightroom. Good luck with this one. You have a challenge ahead of you.

Unplug your computer, open up the case, and blow or vacuum out the case. If you get too much lint and dirt in there it can clog the vents that it needs to keep the CPU cool and the Power Supply cool. That happened to my old computer. I bought a new computer and then took the old one and blew it out and it's not shutting down any more. I'm still glad that I got the new computer because the old one was getting long in tooth, but if I had blown it out good I wouldn't have had to buy a replacement right away.

I agree, not your PS. Try bpulv's suggesting and reinstall LR. If that doesn't help
I would suspect your computer is shutting down due to the CPU or another component overheating.
My guess would be that it happens when using LR due to the demands LR places on your system.
If you are using a PC you can use Piriform Speccy (free) to check your system.
It will show you the temperature of your the various components in your PC.

It is a software/operating system corruption, not a power supply issue. Have you run the chkdsk utility? Have you reinstalled Lightroom? Have you tried running Lightroom in safe mode?

Expand the selection for Lightroom 5 on this page and download the appropriate OS version. Save the file locally this time in case you need it again in the future.

I'm thinking it is a software issue as well. On top of cleaning it out you might talk to a repair shop to see what they would charge to change the thermal paste in between the cpu and the heat sink. I was told the paste isn't supposed to stop working but I've seen several computers be saved by putting new paste on.

You should be able to find your account on the Adobe site. I found my programs at two different locations. Why they are in two different spots is a mystery to me. Adobe lists all the programs I've gotten from them along with a download link and installation key. I downloaded LR and installed it on a different computer just a couple of days ago.

Sign in and then look toward the left of the screen. Under "Choose a Plan," you will see "Manage Account."

It could a bad memory stick. You may be using more memory with Lightroom and write into a bad area of memory. Check the internet for memory testing software, when it hits the bad area it may shutdown.

I have a Mac and use iStat Menu which reports fan speed and CPU temperatures, as well as others and I often find, in Lightroom Classic CC, but not the older versions of Lightroom, that my fans run at maximum speed and CPU sensors often are over 200 degrees. With this information, your computer may be shutting down due to overheating, just a thought.

My older computer shuts down because of heat. The computer has a shutdown mechanism to prevent over heating. When I have it on a desk I prop it up so there is and inch of open air space below it. I only use it for back up now. I have seen, but not tried external cooling devices. They typical sit under the laptop and circulate air to the bottom of the laptop.
