Oh no in the middle of printing my Christmas Calendars my Canon Pixma iP 4820 has died. The error message is B200 if that means anything.I have tried unplugging and re-plugging and turning it on and off in the hope the orange light would not flash anymore, but sadly nothing.
If any one has any ideas please let me know.
Also should I be able to afford a new one they all seem to be wireless. My lap top is at least five years old, would I be able to hook up a wireless model.
Thanks in advance.

Most printers can be physically connected to your computer even if they are wireless. I us an HP Officejet 8620 connected to my desktop via USB cable. I print to it via my wireless network from my laptop. Not much difference in print speed if any.

Suggest you check in with UHH’s great “Printers and Color Printing” sub-forum for some expert advice. Click the link to “All Sections” at the bottom of this page. Then scroll down to find the “Printers...” sub-forum. There are good people there who can ease your worries. Happy holidays!

I hope your using the ink that's called for your printer. Sometimes the gray market stuff will give you trouble.

I know this is a dumb question but have you called Canon? They might be able to help.

Seems like a good excuse to get a new one. The Canon pro 100 goes for only $100 after rebate. Check out B&H or Adorama

You can get a new one on Amazon for about $550.

Years ago, I got tired of buying ink for several different printers, so I standardized on the iP4500. I found several on ebay at good prices, so I'm set for a while, but they seem to run forever. The one I'm using here is over ten years old.

Here are some comparison sites - if the links still work.

1. Turn OFF Power
2. Open the print head bay (as though you were about to change inks)
3. Turn ON power
4. Wait for print carriage to start moving to the left and let it go past half way
5. Before print carriage reaches left hand side (but after going halfway across) shut the cover.
6. Leave the Printer turned on
7. Good to go.

(Very occasionally I have had to do this twice in a row to get past the error)

Please try the following to see if we can resolve your issue:

1. Open the cover of the printer.

2. Remove all ink tanks from the printer.

3. Lift up the gray locking lever on the side of the ink tank holder.

4. Gently remove the print head from the carriage unit.

5. Place the print head back in and lock the lever down.

6. Place all of the ink tanks back in the printer.

7. Close the cover and turn the printer off.

8. Unplug the power from the printer. Leave the power unplugged for about 5-10 minutes. Then reconnect the printer.

If the error continues to persist, please contact our support group using the "Contact Us" link below.
