Good job. Even though I've seen countless thousands of these things, I don't remember ever catching one emerging from the skin.

Excellent capture. Your image is hindered by a narrow DoF, due to low natural light.
Even a small amount of fill light could have doubled your DoF. Take a look at some of the DIY diffusers shown on the Macro Equipment Set-Up thread. You can easily do the same.
