In a previous message I posted my D500 my 200-500 lens got knocked off or blew off a rail on a Deck at Merritt Island wildlife refuge in Florida. They broke.

I had a number of suggestions where to send it for service including back to Nikon I decided to send it to Rick who posts on the ugly hedgehog and lives in Colorado Springs. He did a great job and helped me out greatly. I posted this in a reply to my original post:

Well I finally have some good news for a change. I sent my Nikon D500 and the 200-500 lens to a man named Rick in Colorado Springs that I heard about on The Ugly Hedge Hog forum that repairs cameras and lenses. Long story short the lens was fine and then he told me there might be an issue with the sensor on the motherboard so the D500 would have to go back to Nikon. But then he decided to take a second look at it and he made sure everything was connected right. Now he thinks one of the connectors just wasn’t right. Rick replaced the lens mount and made sure everything was connected correctly and tested the camera with my lens and other lenses The D500 is working perfectly and the lens is working perfect Its only costing me about $150 Plus Shipping.

I’m a happy camper

I used him a few years ago to install a custom screen on a D300. I did not have a problem.

Since he seems to have run into several problems and his reputation suffered.

I am glad he is back in business and start to have satisfied clients again.

I did not read anything negative about him on this forum. I know he moved from Denver to Colorado Springs. Save me hundreds of dollars.

That's good news. There was one complaint about him, that I remembered posted on this forum. I won't go into details. But, I'm glad that you were satisfied with his service. For the amount he charged you, that's usually a touch your camera fee. I may check him out next time. A D500 is Nikon's best and most expensive DX camera. You want skilled repairmen fixing it.

Just an update. Rick did a great job. I gave my D500 a workout using the 200-500 lens and all is good. Nice sharp images fast focus as well as fast FPS. Rick saved me money so all in all I'm happy.
