There is a Danish folktale of the Selkie, a seal woman who leaves the sea once a year, sheds her seal skin and dances and parties like a young woman. A fisherman steals her seal skin, locks it away so she can't return to the sea and forces her to marry him. This Selkie statue stands on a rock at the shoreline in Mikladalur , the largest of the Faroe Islands. I was there on a rainy morning. She is a verdigris color, I thought the sepia effect looked more real. She is holding her seal skin in her left hand. I wasn't sure if this was the section to post the photo, it seemed kind of graphic for the Gallery section.

A statue? Are you sure? A very nice photo, and I like the sepia effect.
Good looking Selkie....drunk sailors sure make up a lot of stories,
rum helps a lot I would guess !
I don't think statues qualify as nudity.....even if they are of naked women !
Very cool, and I like the story.
Nice story; nice photo. The toning you’ve used adds to the mysterious aura, I believe.

Thanks, Ben. I think the dramatic sky helped.
