We never get deer in my neighborhood! Or at least I haven't seen one here in forty years.

Interesting to note that Windham County has one of the highest levels of Lime disease (including me) in the country, so I think that you may have deer in your area. Btw that doe is a member of family of deer that live in my neighborhood. This is the first time they were close enough to photograph

They are definitely around, but apparently don't browse in my hood. I had advanced Lyme disease six years ago to the point of unconsciousness and a week in the hospital. Memory loss and several months to recoup.

Sorry to hear about your problem. But in a way you were luky as Lyme disease often goes undiagnosed. And can lead to very serious long term consequences. Not the least of which is severe arthritis, and recurrent high fevers.

I had an infection near my brain and they suspected Lyme and began immediate treatment. It took six days and two spinal taps, excuse me, lumbar punctures, to confirm. You know the drill! They restrained me and put mitts on because I kept pulling the IV's out during the first day. I mentioned in a subsequent visit about having two punctures a couple days apart and the doc told me that I only had one. I told him to trust me because I was present for both! He was able to confirm...talk about communication. I take great precautions to pursue my birding interests!

Nice one! And BTW, you don't need deer to have deer ticks! The larval stage mainly parasitizes mice and small rodents, before branching out to bigger and better things, like two-legged game!

The tough deal is that they carry at least three other diseases of which at least one has no cure.
