This camera really has a high dynamic range and pulls in detail real well. If you look close in the mirror that is me taking the photo, also note the color cast from the curtain on the fireplace stone from the window.

How do the jpegs look straight out of that camera?

Just as good, provided all your settings are correct and at 46MP your shutter speed is high if shooting hand held.

That’s a well exposed photo. There is a lot to be said for a good dynamic range.

Beautiful detail. Is your horizon off a little or is it me?

If you see me in the mirror you will notice that I was not centered in the room and that threw a lot off in alignment. Due to the window on the right that I wanted fully in the photo I had to adjust for perspective without totally having everything aligned perfectly as I would have wanted. Here is another photo of the farmhouse living room which has another perspective view, note I was able to hold perspective and capture detail from the fireplace and detail out of the window.

Was this using an in-camera multi-shot HDR process, or just with a single photo? It is very nice!

Single photo, some cropping and perspective warping in Photoshop CC that is basically it.

Hi Bruce,
You are right, the DR is awesome! It really shows in the second shot between in and outside the room. Good job! Take care & ...

Ha Ha, for $3,295 you can wait in line for 2 to 3 months to get your D850. I still haven't received my vertical grip ($400) which was ordered and paid for from 8/24/2017 and I can't figure out what the big deal is in manufacturing the grip would be.
