Hi everyone,
I am expecting a delivery from UPS today for a Canon eos 77D from Adorama. The cost was $799.00 and upon reviewing the tracking information it doesn’t mention a signature being required. It seems to me that any item with that dollar amount would require a signature upon delivery. Is it me, or does that seem odd? Luckily I am in a position that I can watch out for the delivery today, but if I wasn’t, I would really be concerned. Has anyone else had this experience?

Yes, I have, no, not odd at all. (though their own policy says "a signature is required for MOST shipments) in my experience it's "some" and not most. B&H is the same.

I have all my on line orders notify me on my iPhone when the product was shipped and when it arrives. Works great

The signature requirement varies widely. I hate having to wait around or reschedule a delivery because of a required signature. I have gotten things delivered that cost over $1,000, and a signature was not required. The seller decides who signs and who doesn't. Your location has a lot to do with it.

Yes, it is a tricky situation. You get home from work, and the package isn't there. You make a phone call, and they say they delivered it. Then what? I think it's possible to request having to sign for things.

Good luck! You may be OK this time - but as we get closer to Christmas, the thieves that follow the UPS, USPS, and FEDEX trucks will come out big time!

That's a great convenience. I've gotten a text while I was at the computer telling me that the package had been delivered. Neither the dogs nor I heard the delivery, but I go to the front door, and there it is. Another nice feature is being able to track the UPS truck on a map on the computer, but that doesn't happen very often.

The PO has a feature that lets you see what mail will be delivered each day. They send me an email showing a photocopy of each item. Yesterday, I didn't bother walking to the mailbox because I wasn't interested in the one piece of mail I received.

Thanks, if that’s how you feel about your money, send me $800 and if it doesn’t show up I won’t feel so bad.

Now now children, if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. If you post on this site you have to expect those types of responses. Better to post and be quiet than post and respond to them.

When I order from B&H, anything over a certain value requires a signature. I have yet to see that on the tracking info. Why not wait and see, and stop worrying. UPS is insured.

You can ask Adorama to require a signature when you order

Not since I've been able to have packages from UPS and FedEx delivered to my post office box.

You can contact UPS and arrange to pick up your camera at your local UPS location.

So far I’ve never had anything stolen. Knock on wood...

With GPS, the driver logs it when the delivery is made. So, that is the proof of delivery. Your GPS coordinates.

Perhaps you should have mentioned that during the ordering with Adorama. If you join UPS you have the choice of changing delivery. I suspect FedEx too. If you had called UPS you could have changed the delivery method.

Keep a close eye on the delivery status. We've had shipments where the status was delivered, but the item wasn't here - was at a neighbor's house. Luckily the shipment was a few doors down or across the street. A time or 2 neighbors brought the packages to us.

I live within 4 miles of the UPS depot here in Mansfield, so I always have my photography items shipped to that depot, and held there until I pick it up. Serves two purposes for me: one is that I know it is safe from "porch shoppers," if you know what I mean! Two is, the UPS delivery to homes in my area does not come until 5:00 pm or later, I can pick up that item at 9:00 am!

I had a delivery of a Nikon D810 by UPS; the seller, B&H, advised that a signature was required at delivery. I received a tracking notification that it was delivered and I had signed for it. I hurried to the front door and the package was sitting right there. Basically, signature required is meaningless; this happened to me more than once with UPS.
