Yellowstone wildlife.
A week ago, today, we got back from a lovely trip to Yellowstone National Park. Autumn seems like a good time to go. Some of the places in the park are closed by late September, but the crowds are really quite easy to tolerate. We did run into some cold weather, and a fair amount of snow on the ground, but we were prepared for that and it really added to the beauty of the place.
Autumn is the time of the elk rut. Though we did not see any of these magnificent beasts fighting, we still had the opportunity to see several mature bull elk with impressive racks. We saw quite a few other animals, as well, but, alas, no moose, and no wolves.

Great pics of all of them. Congrats on finding such a variety.
Thanks! The place is a photographer’s paradise.
NICE work ! - Love the Bison ! - Thanks for sharing ....
My pleasure! The place is thick with bison. Just about every day, traffic stopped because of those big boys in the road.
Wonderful photographed set with #2 being my favorite!!
Thanks for sharing these beautiful animals!!
Thanks! One of my sisters said she liked the bison best, too.
Fine job! I'm leaving the Park on Wednesday and the only thing missing are bear pics! Some of the passes have been blocked several times with snow, but the Mammoth to Norris road opened a few days ago with construction delays. In June we shot bear daily.
We were very lucky, in that it did not rain or snow while we were there. We got it on the way there, and back.

No complaints as we know the park fairly well and worked around the challenges. Watched 8 wolves in Lamar this morning, three moose a little later and then some Bighorn Sheep while hiking out a few miles out on the ridge opposite Calcite Springs. Pronghorn were showing off as well. Also got our first badger on the Blacktail Plateau Drive and a couple Pika at the Hellroaring Trailhead. Time for a rest from the vacation!
Wolves! Outstanding! I hope you got excellent shots.
