My main camera is a canon 5d3 and was thinking about upgrading to a mark 4. Found a deal on ebay for a 5ds for $2000. Since 90% of my work is landscapes and people I believe this will be a better body for me. I understand that it is not the best camera for low light and the highest iso is about 6400. I have never needed to go above this number so it is no big deal.
I will be leaving on Sat and heading for Yosemite for Road Scholer trip. This should be a great lens for all of the fall colors.
believe it or not I'm really excited.

Great price for a great camera - enjoy!
Either Christmas came early or my birthday came late. Seller will be shipping tomorrow.
Also the unit comes with a battery grip..........I don't know what value this will have except i would guess the 50mp eat up battery life really quite.

Please share some of the photos. Considering the same camera but didn't find it for that price....NICE
Great bargain on the 5Ds. Do you plan to keep the 5D Mark 3 as a backup? I just read a Ken Rockwell article on the 5Ds camera a week ago. Enjoy it.

The number of megapixels has nothing to do with battery life!
Enjoy your new camera and your trip.

Congrats on your choice. I purchased the 5DSr, and with jewelry photography and portraits, it has allowed me to compete with the big boys using medium format. Peter Hurley, a life long medium format camera user, has switched to Canon calling these entries game changers. If anything, these cameras produce so much detail that my edit time is increased. Nobody cares to see the veins in the eyes, which this camera will capture from 10 feet away. Good luck...unfortunately Yosemite has some problems.

Congrats. Have you used a battery grip before? I much prefer the balance and feel with grip on the camera, especially for portrait orientation.
Please let us know what you think and how it goes. Enjoy Yosemite.
