Following the alarming story about the decline (90% in the past two decades) in the Monarch butterfly population, I ha€™ve developed a mild obsession with trying to photograph these beautiful creatures. I a€™m sadly reminded of that rock song entitled "€œDon'€™t know what you got till it'€™s gone."€
Guilty as charged, I suppose.
Anyway, this particular specimen arrived at my marigold patch just before sunset a couple days back. For our area, this is the start of the migration season for the Monarch and fellow pollinators essential to our Earth'€™s food supply.
The clarity isn'€™t the best, but I like the contrasting colors and tones and the mood afforded by the setting sun. I pray it'€™s not an omen.
