To color or not. . that is the question?
OK . . here are two images of the same GBH taken in the same lighting conditions. One in color and the other converted to B&W.
Which do you prefer?
I'd like more saturation in the color shot.
They are both nice shots but I prefer the b/w because the emphasis is on the bird while the colors distracts from it.
Both look good; but the color is better.
Jerry . .sorry there simply wasn't more color to saturate. The sun was behind the clouds. Thus I was kind of directed towards the B&W by the image content. . . . and felt none the worse for it.
Yes. . .I did capture many more with normal color content; but that wasn't the point.
I obviously agree with ebcobol in that B&W really did place emphasis on the bird's texture and shape as well as its wonderful movements.
As so frequently said, in the eyes of the beholder! But, I prefer the color picture due to the subtle color soft but effective.
Prefer the color. The head seems better defined and the nice feathers in the front have a slightly blue cast in the white areas that make them brighter white.
I prefer the color. Not only for the Heron, but also for the background.
Since the bird has subdued coloring, I think the gray scale is more dynamic.
Since there's not a lot of colour detail anyway, IMHO the B&W is better - much.
Color definitely, Warren!
