Canon refurb sales did it again.

An earlier post described ordering an item but not getting it. I just confirmed I'm in the same or similar "boat." Found a good price on a refurbed lens on the Canon site. This was on 09/05. Completed the information and paid with Paypal. Copied the final page which said "print this page for your records." This morning 09/07 noticed the charge had not come through on Paypal. Contacted Canon and was told I had to call, did call. Was informed the transaction was waiting for payment completion, rep said I could complete over the phone. Before entering the credit card info she told me the price has gone up by 20%, did I want to complete? NO! It seems possible that they limit the # available on special price deals and if we've logged onto one more than they want to sell they put a pending tag on it and offer it at the higher price (just guessing.) Yes, it's still available but at the higher price. I'll just keep hunting for the better deal at the usual vendors, sigh. Mental Note: get in at the beginning of a sale!!

Twas the 10-18 efs lens. A plastic which gets some fantastic reviews. Price was right. I figure the ABS mount will not be a problem since I use a hammer rather than my camera for whackin things about (so far anyway.)

Sun is out and I'm doing laundry, gonna be a great drying day, I think. Frequently when these storms get in the location this one is, they seem to suck all the rain away from here and drop it there.

Buy from a dealer and give the profit to them, rather than to the manufacturer.

That lens is currently $279.99 after a $20 discount on the Canon website. Was the one you ordered less than that? I bought the refurbed version of his lens a couple of years ago from Canon. I paid $203.99 for it (plus tax) with a $36 discount.

It seems to me you have a paypal problem and not a canon problem!

Yes, price was advertised as the same as yours. $189.99 + 7% sales tax came out about $203. Not interested at +$50.

That is a possibility but hasn't happened before. Balance available was more than adequate. Thought the problem sounded similar to one posted recently. When lesser mercahnts have done this we've hollered "bait n switch" I hope this is not a new wrinkle.

I just ordered a Canon 80D & grip from B&H using Paypal and the transaction was virtually instantaneous. In less than 2 minutes I had order confirmation from B&H and Paypal both. Now the wait for the big brown truck arriving Monday.
