Tripod Update

First of all, I would like to thank everyone for there input and advice on my quest for a tripod. I received a lot of useful information. After careful thought and some research I ended up purchasing the Slik 700DX with the 700DX 3way panhead. I believe it will fulfill my needs. I was going to purchase it from Adorama or B&H for &169.95, but I decided to follow several suggestions about buying refurbished. I contacted Slik and I was able to purchase a refurbished one for $99.00. I should receive the tripod by the end of the week and will let everyone know what I think of it once it is in hand and I have a chance to try it out. Once again thank you to everyone. Kerry

Thanks for the update ! .....as you may have noticed, the user reviews of this tripod are very GOOD. I have never seen or used the panhead - which may be questionable.

That was a really good price. Congratulations. By the way, there are a few of us that do like the pan head.

I own that Tripod and use it with a Gimbal head and a 500mm f/4 lens without any issues. It is a great tripod at a very reasonable price, although others would argue against it, personally I don't see the need to spend $500-600 for a tripod. Very sturdy with 1" tubular legs.

I have the same tripod. I bought it a number of years ago. It is BIG & HEAVY. At least I do. I use that when on road trips. It stays in the trunk until I want to use it. I do not use that when walking around.

I thought about the ballhead, but with my arthritis, although not real bad, it would be a better choice.

It's also what was on the old tripod.

I'll have to use it and see how the weight is. Hopefully it won't be to heavy for me.
