I became intrigued by photos I have seen that incorporate crystal ball effects. Soooo, I ordered one (under $20.00) and began playing! By the way, you can use a fish eye lens or a simple wine glass filled with water!
Below are some comments from digital-Photography School and the web address for your reading pleasure!

You™ have heard of reflections in photography, but have you have tried refraction? When used well, refraction creates compelling images that will leave your audience both wowed and curious. I have been approached many times by strangers who are curious about how I photograph with a glass ball. Once you ha™ve mastered this type of photograph you will likely get the same audience. Here are some tips to help you do crystal ball refraction photography.

Here's one I did quite a while ago that employed a plastic plumbing pipe-this could fall in the category of distortion....

Thanks for hosting Judy! What a lovely idea! I will see what I can come up with! In the meantime, here is something I did a while back.

Nice examples, Sharon! I plan to continue to experiment with the ideas...try different approaches and see where it goes...So far it's been a fun discovery!

Less sun would have removed light splotches on the ball, so I'll have to try to keep that in mind, but I still like the outcome...

Thanks Judy! I don't know if an umbrella would help that problem or not...might make it too dark...? I love that crystal ball you have! I am going to try and put the wine glass upside down later today and see what I get. Oh! I just went to my china cabinet and I have several crystal knickknacks that should prove very interesting....I see what I will be doing for the next few days! LOL!

Great, Sharon...I'll be watching to see what you come up with!
As far as the sun, the advise is to have the sun behind you and perhaps an overcast day?? have to experiment and see -ongoing fun! So nice to be able to play without film!!! and processing to see if things work!
