And the NEXT generation of whatever it is - is already flying out of Area 51

I wonder if it's actually practical in terms of performance, reliability, and price.

Or for that matter if it even has a mission. We all know satellites can now produce reconnaissance photos with enough clarity to read large newsprint from orbit and while it's true a manned aircraft can fly anywhere, anytime, both are limited during night hours and overcast skies. Additionally, while Russia didn't have the capability of shooting down an SR-71 back when it was flying, I'd bet they and most countries do, now.

Maybe they'll do with this plane what they did with the Space Shuttle, consign the project to the Russians.

I bet the Russians and the Chinese already have our plans and are working on their own versions.
