I am taking an airplane trip with two cameras (a Nikon D5500 and a Canon Powershot SX60)-- each camera will have a battery installed -- and I want to take three more batteries and their two different chargers. What is the best way to transport these? I know the spares have to go in carry-on, but what other details do I need to know? Thank you.
Any loose batteries must have their contacts covered and/or protected to prevent shorting if they come in contact with anything conductive. Most camera batteries come with a protective cover. As you noted, they must be carried in your carry-on bag. I put the protective covers on my spare batteries, secure the covers with rubber bands, and then place them in a zip-lock bag for easy inspection. Never had a problem. If you have lost the covers then tape, securely applied, will work. Batteries in your cameras require no special treatment.
Thank you both! Great info helped a lot!
