Thank God for a second card.
I have the D810 my cf card is my main card and I set my second to overflow, not back up. I had the same thing happen when photographing humming birds. Works perfectly
all of my images are on the card. I just don't know why they stopped loading at 250

Hey BJ here's a tip:
If you want to reply to something someone wrote, instead of having to type it all in or cut and paste it... just go to the bottom of their post and hit "Quote Reply".
When the reply window opens it will have their post in quotes for you. Just move your cursor to the end and start typing your reply.
That should be a LOT easier and quicker.

That's exactly what happened before I replaced the card reader philo. Since then I haven't had an issue.

It is easier to get in touch with God the some manufacture. give thanks for all things.
Thanks funny, when I call Nikon, they answer, when I call God, nobody answers.
But God's hold music is always better.
I shoot raw and fine sometimes normal on my Nikon 5300, and carry at least 2 or 3 32GB cards As I find I get 800+ or minus shots per card Max. And recently purchased a 64 GB card as I find I take numerous photos of the same thing sometimes just to try different means and methods and can sometimes shoot 2000 photos of day
