I got a laugh out of this photo from our local newspaper and thought I would share it so you all could get a laugh too.
Do you suppose the photographer did this on purpose? Enjoy

To answer one question, no I don't think it was done on purpose. The timing / position would have to have been so split second to accomplish this without posing everyone, that it would practically impossible to plan and execute this on the fly.

Funny photo just the same.

If you look closely, you will notice that the bat appears to be hitting the man in the background in the head.

It was so subtle I almost missed it. Who is that man?

Oh okay... I didn't notice that....lol
Naa couldn't have hit him..he was probably about ten foot away from him, he had the masterful job of telling the pitcher when to pitch...

I have no idea who he is since I don't keep up with sports, but I know who is is NOT going to be if he gets closer to the bat.
I take notice of small (and not so small details) since I started doing wildlife photography. It's almost as if I have eyes in the back of my head.

Not a baseball follower? Aaron Judge, a 25-year-old rookie the Yankees picked up for only half a mil.

Aaron is from right here in Fresno State. He played here before the Yankees drafted him in 2013. Watch this one.........he's good.

Did the photographer plan that? No. The editor though, that might be a different story!

I don't think the photographer did that on purpose. The photographer was probably using a telephoto lens that had the effect of compressing the scene. You know that the catcher is behind the batter but it appears that he's next to the batter. I wonder how the scene would have looked if the photographer was using a 50mm lens and was somewhat close to the players and umpire.

Shot on purpose; probably not. But picked on purpose? Maybe. Most shooters use burst mode, so there would be a number of shots to choose from. I'm sure the selection was based on the batters expression, but who knows whether the editor thought it was funny that it looked like there was about to be a bat to head collision.

Thank you Bob for responding to my post. I think you may be the only one who thought it was funny.
Maybe I just have a weird sense of humor.
