Beautiful blossoms, Cathy! I love the background in the first shot. It look like there's twinkle lights. I love the glow in the first two shots and the vibrant colors in all of them. Great demo! Looks like a great optic. Thanks for sharing.

Believe #3 is my favorite. I am finding I just like a portion of the subject sharper, even if just slightly so. This is just right with all the swirly, blurry background. All are wonderful. What IS the color, blur background of #1. So different and glowing. Thank you for showing us this option-the soft focus optic.

Cathy, now you're really making our heads spin!!! So many options, so little time!!
I love the softness and background on the first two, but I think I like the last two more, with the softness around the edges!!
Lovely shots, Cathy and it's hard to remember what's what if we don't write it down immediately!! But it's always a surprise and always beautiful, creative and unique!!

Thank you, Jane, for the great comment! Those macro lenses (they screw on the optic like a filter) are Vivitar, and are not at all expensive. They're 37mm with +1, +2, +4, and +10 "diopter filters." The package includes a "filter wallet" in which to keep them. They work real well with our Lensbaby optics like the double glass, single glass, soft focus, etc. The directions say, "Lenses can be used individually or in combination for maximum effect. E.g. +1 & +2 to make a +3 effect..." etc.

Thank you, Sandy, for the great comment! When I took these last summer, I was learning to focus the soft focus lens, so some could have been sharper. Please don't take what I've done here to be the best it can do. Also, putting a smaller aperture disc in it would help with the focal point sharpness. These were taken without any disc so the aperture was 2.0.

The background in #1 consists of the foliage behind it. The fire glow is from the sun coming through spaces in the foliage. It was late in the day, and the sky was filled with smoke from forest fires. That's the only reason I can think of that that glow is yellow.

I really have to get into the habit of writing this stuff down, Angela. It wouldn't take any effort to grab a small notebook to stick in a pocket when I go out shooting. I also prefer the softness around the edges. Thank you so much for your great comment and the thumb!!!

Either that, or what I'm trying to do is, after I finish shooting with one lens or combination, I put them on my pc and change the name on the picture file with whatever I used, this seems to be working for me.... at least for now!! lol!!

That's what I do too. My problem is that after taking some pictures, I took the macro filter off, and I don't know where I did that when loading the pictures onto my computer.
