3 Democrats Targeted, Blasted As House Ethics Probe FINALLY Acts After Months Of Talk

From the Conservative Times:

"The House Ethics Committee announced Monday that it will be reviewing charges on three prominent democrats. The two high-profile representatives and one congressional aid named in the ethics review will undergo investigation of their possible violations when the case appears in August.

Rep. John Conyers Jr. from Michigan is the ranking Democrat on the Judiciary Committee and he is the longest-serving sitting House member in congress. Rep. Ben Ray Luján from New Mexico is chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. He’s responsible for getting democrats elected.

The final member of the review is Michael Collins. He has worked for other members of congress before, and is the chief of staff for Rep. John Lewis, a democrat from Georgia.

In the statements released on Monday, the Ethics committee did not give specifics about the charges filed against the three liberals. However, the notice said that the allegations were forwarded to the committee by the independent Office of Congressional Ethics. That office based the charges on a “substantial reason to believe” that a violation had occurred.

Each of the men face separate, unrelated integrity abuse claims.

The panel wrote, “The Committee notes that the mere fact of a referral or an extension, and the mandatory disclosure of such an extension and the name of the subject of the matter, does not itself indicate that any violation has occurred, or reflect any judgment on behalf of the Committee.”

Lujan faces charges for inappropriately using images of democrats on the House floor. Apparently, he took pictures of the much-publicized “sit-in” and thought it would make a great fundraising opportunity.

Emails read, “Chip in $24 toward [democrat] emergency fundraising goal. $1 for every hour we’ve been in the well of the House chamber demanding action.”

The publicity ploy was designed to gain support for more infringements on second amendment freedoms. After the Orlando nightclub shooting, a bunch of democrat representatives were led by Rep. John Lewis to reenact a sit-in like the ones in the 60s.

Even the Washington Post complained that the trick wouldn’t do anything, saying democrats haven’t had the v**es to change gun legislation in “decades.” Funny, no one staged a sit-in after Scalise was gunned down by a liberal socialist.

In retrospect, it almost appears the sit-in was more about getting money than actually doing anything in congress. The Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust must certainly think so, as it brought the charge of improperly using images of democrats to the Ethics Committee.

Joe Shoemaker, a spokesman for Lujan said that his was a “frivolous complaint.” The arrogant dismissal of the charges demonstrate democrat disrespect for the position of public servant, which is exactly why there’s an Ethics Committee.

Conyers is being investigated for what he knew about payments made to aide Cynthia Martin. According to the Office of Congressional Ethics (OCE), she “received compensation” from the House after she was no longer working there. If Conyers knew about the payments, it’s an ethics violation.

In a statement released Monday, a Conyers spokeswoman said that the matter was not new, and that Conyers’ office has “worked diligently at all times to comply with the rules.” Conyers is no stranger to investigations; his wife was convicted of bribery charges and served time. He is also the congressman who called the Tea Party, “tea baggers.”

Regarding the claim against Collins, a spokesman from Rep. Lewis’ office would not describe the nature of the charges against him. However, the Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust filed a separate grievance against the staffer at the beginning of the year. The complaint says that Collins held duel positions on Lewis’ campaign and his official staff, which gave him an extra $27,495 in salary.

Collins has denied the charges.

Ethics violations aren’t minor, nor are they something to ignore. Established in 2008, the OCE provides real oversight on congressional misuse of power. Politics in America has become a gateway to wealth.

Rather than act like public servants, a number of career politicians live in a grand style and consider themselves above the people. Of course, that persona quickly modifies during an e******n year.

The Ethics Committee will deliver reports in each case on August 9, 2017."
