These are taken from one of my trips to the southwest. All are on the Navajo Reservation. The first one is of Wild Mustangs that a Navajo friend of mine caught and is nursing back to health. When he is not making pottery or painting, he rides out on horseback and rounds up Mustangs. He then breaks them and sells them. He is currently teaching his grandsons the trade. He is 60 years young. The other photos are of Toadlena and Hubbell Trading Posts. Hubbell is owned by the National Park Service but Toadlena is privately owned.
I like all these pictures, perhaps the last one most--artistically fine but also curious content.
Very nice set! Your friend enjoys a lifestyle that I assumed was long gone. How wonderful that he is able to pass along tackling wild mustangs and breaking them to his grandchildren. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for the comments. I have considered posting a picture of my friend, but have not asked his permission. The Navajos are sometimes uncomfortable about photographs. I did not have my Canon 7D with me when I took these. I used my Canon Powershot point and shoot.
Beautiful, interesting shots, Kerry! The horses in #1 are so pretty!
